The average pension in Spain rose in April by 4.8% over the same period last year

The average pension in April reached the 850.73 per month, representing a 4.9% increase over the same month in 2008, according to data released today by the Ministry of Labour and Immigration.

The average pension system, including the different types of pension (retirement, permanent disability, widowhood, orphanhood and for family) stood at 751.29 euros per month, representing an annual increase of 4.8%.

Specifically, the average pension for widows stood at 552.75 euros in April, up 4.7%, while the permanent disability level reached a mean of 828.99 euros per month, up 3.7% .

Meanwhile, the average pension amounted to 338.72 euros orphan month, a 4.4% increase, while that for family members stood at 445.60 euros per month, 4.4% more.

In April, the number of contributory pension Social Security amounted to 8,503,843, representing a growth of 1.7% over the same month last year.

Of this, 5,020,206 were of retirement pensions (+2.1%), 2,266,719 widows (+1%), 915,627 permanent disability (+1.8%), 263,561 orphans (+1.9 %) and 37,730 in favor of relatives (-0.2%).

To pay these benefits, Social Security spent a total of 6,388.8 million euros (+6.6%), of which 4,270.8 million related to payroll monthly pensions (+7.1%) ; 1252.9 million to widow's pensions (+5.8%), 759 million in permanent disability (+5.6%) to 89.2 million orphans (+6.5%) and 16.8 million for relatives (+4.2%).

PENSION EXCEED SEVEN MEDIA COMMUNITIES.

By region, seven of them, plus Ceuta, in April exceeded the national average pension, established in 751.29 euros per month. Basque Country, Asturias and Madrid recorded higher average pensions, with EUR 935.20, 900.20 and 889.09 euros per month, respectively.

They were followed by Navarra (845.45 euros per month), Ceuta (812.08 euros), Cantabria (780.45 euros), Aragon (777.93 euros), Catalonia (774.73 euros), Melilla (745.53 euros) , Castile and Leon (728.50 euros), La Rioja (717.27 euros), Canary Islands (705.78 euros), Castilla-La Mancha (700.33 euros), Andalucia (691.54 euros), Valencia ( 688.65 euros) and the Balearic Islands (680.42 euros).

Close the table, with less substantial pensions, Murcia, with an average pension of 661.95 per month, Extremadura, with 640.39 euros, and Galicia, to 627.48 euros per month.
