Russia eliminates time zones to boost economy

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Sunday announced the reduction of two time zones of the country, passing from 11 to 9 - to boost the national economy and improve the management of the world's largest country.
Sunday With the introduction of daylight saving time, border areas closest to Alaska in the far east, as the Chukotka and Kamchatka peninsulas, are only eight hours ahead of Moscow instead of the usual nine.
The locations of the Samara region and Udmurtia in the Urals, have lost their zone to join the Moscow. Kemerovo, the only area of Siberia to Moscow four hours ahead, lose an hour and joins the rest of Siberian regions, whose clocks are three hours ahead of those of the Russian capital.
Thus is fulfilled the promise of Medvedev made in recent weeks, and that is committed to continue studying reductions of time zones to "give life to the business of Russia", which could end up with only a difference of five hours throughout its territory, at the suggestion of the president.
