8.8% THE CONTRACTS AND INDEFINITE.

Portugal, an increase of one tenth to 10.9%, beat Hungary (with the aforementioned 10.4%). No data available for Greece since March, when the unemployment rate reached 11% of its workforce.
In the whole euro area remained stable at 10%, as in the European Union (9.6%).
Between May 2009 and March this year, the countries of the OECD where unemployment has risen more were Slovakia (3.6 points more a year), Spain (two points), Poland (1.8 points) , Portugal (1.5 points), Ireland (1.3 points), Italy (1.2 points) and Holland (1 point).
By contrast, there are others in which the proportion of unemployed during those twelve months decreased: nine tenths in Austria to 4%, six tenths in Germany 7%, six tenths in Australia to 5.2%, six tenths in Korea South at 3.2% or four tenths in Canada to 8.1%.
In its annual survey of employment prospects, published on 7 July, the OECD found that unemployment had peaked in the first quarter of this year, when it came to 8.7%, but warned that the reduction will be slow, and that the end of 2011 will still exceed 8%.
